Mária Ferenčuhová's poeticdebutis a collection of fragmentary texts that work as a commentary to one's own experienceandto realitythrough the perspective of the lyrical subject. The commenting is at timeslyrical, at other times itis narrative or even journalistic. Themes of time, of temporality, of time flowbut also of the halting of time becomeevident. Simultaneously, the motif of interpretation, or of interpreting from one code into another (closed captions are subtitles for people with hearing disabilities) is present in the book. In the context of this book it can be understood as a translation of the visual, cinematic and storyline forms of recording of events into a literary language (captions or subtitles can be viewed as a literary addition to a film).
