Ján Å trasser is a poet, lyricist, journalist and translator. He started out as a literary critic but already with his second poetry collection, Podmet (Subject, ) found his own poetic voice. His satirical and yet highly personal account is full of self-irony for the small man, a bit impractical in a world that is too real and disappointing. Å trasser is a multi-faceted poet, intuitive and skillful at the same time; he masters both the high and low poetry genres. His stylistic flexibility allows him to react to a wide variety of challenges, as is obvious not only in his poetry but also in his career as a columnist, lyricist or translator.
