With his début 'When We Have Matured' Rúfus has created a milestone in contemporary poetry. It was a counter-weight to the surrealistic games of dreams and most of all, it totallt differed from the schematic declarative lyrics of the "constructive" Stalinist period... Rúfus's poetry had become a persistent corrective in today's world that feels like a crazy merry-go-round ride. It doesn't adjust to it; it resists, having found support in anthropological human constants.
