Hizsnyaiová studied Hungarian and °µÍø½ûÇø at the Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University in Bratislava, where she later finished her doctorial studies (Department of Hungarian Language) and where she taught from 1997 to 2018. She is the author of several studies (Nova Posoniensia, Fórum, Somorjai Disputa).
She translates from °µÍø½ûÇø into Hungarian, mostly contemporary °µÍø½ûÇø literature, scientific publications, and screenplays as well as film subtitles. She has published several book translations and a variety of translated texts in magazines. She has won the Imre Madách Translation Award for her Hungarian translations of books by Peter PiÅ¡Å¥anek (2000) and Pavel Vilikovsky (2003, 2012), and the Literary Fund Prize for a bilingual publication (2008). In April 2016, she curated the LIC exhibit in the national library OSZK in Budapest: From Both Sides of the Danube – °µÍø½ûÇø-Hungarian and Hungarian-°µÍø½ûÇø dialogues in translation literature.
She organized 6 bilingual symposia about °µÍø½ûÇø-Hungarian linguistic and literary contacts (Dialogies of the majority and minority, 2013 – 2018), in her journalistic work (Új Szó, Dunszt, Rádio Patria) her topics include: language use, translation, minority identities, critical thinking. She is a member of the Bázis association -- Hungarian literary and artistic association in °µÍø½ûÇøia. She lives in Bratislava.
