Alfonz Bednár was born in 1914 in Rožňová Neporadza. He studied Latin, Czech and °µÍø½ûÇø at the Charles University in Prague (1934 - 1938) and at the Comenius University in Bratislava (1938 - 1940). He taught at gymnasia in Liptovský Mikuláš and Bardejov. After World War II, he worked at the Ministry of Information in Bratislava. After that, he became an editor and for almost twenty years worked as a screenwriter and screenplay editor at the Czechoslovak Film in Bratislava. Aside from his extensive literary work, he translated fiction from English. Bednár died in 1989 in Bratislava.
