The novella Foulbrood is a freeflowing narration segmented into smaller episodes. People, stories, things and different factors enter in form of anecdotes. The narration is framed in a binary fashion, there are two autumns and the death of the father and of the mother. The book is centered around the gradual process of dying of the mother who is incurably ill and about coming to terms with it and enjoying the time with her that is left. The story takes place in the town of Modra (as all Å ikulová's stories do) and also in the memory of the female narrator.Â
