The novel Tisícročná včela (Millennial Bee, 1979) is perhaps Jaroš' best-known. The film adaptation was awarded at the Venice Film Festival in 1984. Literary critics cite it as one of the best post-war novels.
This decades-spanning drama follows the lives of three generations of a family from the Tatras-region at the turn of the 20th century and in subsequent years, up until the end of WWI.
