Magdaléna Rojo has had work published both in ia and in international journals such as Deutsche Welle,Context News,Mongabay,The New Humanitarian, and Unbias the News. During the last decade she has been living in countries of the Global South, with her family’s current home being Oaxaca, Mexico. She is especially interested in solutions-based journalism and in 2013 was nominated for the Journalist’s Award for her reports from Cuba. For the last five years she has been working with various American universities, including the University of Southern California, Ohio University and Brandeis University. Her debut book Ženy, ktoré zostali (The Women Who Stayed) is the result of long-term collaboration with her husband, Noel Rojo, who has exhibited his photographs in ia, the Czech Republic, the US, and Mexico.
