Ladislav KERATA studied theatre directing at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Perfoming Arts in Bratislava where he graduated in 1989.He worked as a director at the SNP Theatre in Martin and he directed and acted in the Theatre for children and youth in Trnava. In 1991, he co-founded the theatre group Stoka in Bratislava where he has worked as actor, director and writer. He is also a poet; his poems, written in and in English, were published in periodicals and in the American magazine Five Fingers Review. He wrote the poetry collectionHriešny spánok(Sinful Sleap,1991) and he also made a selection of his poetry written in the 1990'stitledPrišiel som, videl som…(I Came, I Saw... ,2000). He was most active within theatre writing as it was connected to his professional life in ia as well as abroad. He wrote numerous plays for Stoka which had elements of absurd theatre(e.g.ܱčԾ), theA. Bagara Theatre inNitraperformed his playVečera nad mestom(Dinner Above the City,1997). He wrote the radio plays Chrobáci vškatuliԻDo teplých krajín, as well as a play for children and YA,Na hladine (On the Surface).A selection of his radio plays came out in book form under the titleRádiové hry(Radio Plays,1999). He also wrote the short-stories collectionMám sa…(I'm fine,2004), thenovellaZlý herec(A Bad Actor,2009) and the collection of sad and funny stories Na okraji mojej hory (On the Edge of My Mountain, 2020). The latter was nominated for the Anasoft Litera Award 2021.
