Austrian author Lydia Steinbacher on a residency in °µÍø½ûÇøia

Poet and prose writer Lydia Steinbacher from Austria will spend the month of October on a creative residency in Horný Smokovec.

Lydia Steinbacher (*1993) grew up in the Lower Austrian village of Hollenstein an der Ybbs. She studied German Philology at the University of Vienna. She works as an editor in a publishing house focusing on educational publications. Her lyric collection Im Grunde sind wir sehr verschieden (Limbus Verlag, 2017) attracted a lot of media attention. Her short stories have been published in several anthologies. In 2019, her short story collection Schalenmenschen was published by Septime Verlag in Vienna; it was followed by the novel Wolgaland (2022) and the poetry collection Neue Tage (2024).

The regular annual °µÍø½ûÇø-Austrian exchange program for authors "AIR-Artist in Residence" is organised by the Literary House in Lower Austria and the °µÍø½ûÇø Literary Centre. This spring, °µÍø½ûÇø writer Vanda Rozenbergová completed her residency at the Literaturhaus Niederösterreich in Krems an der Donau; next year, at the turn of February and March, author Ivana Gibová will spend five weeks in Krems. Last year, Austrian author Mario Schlembach visited °µÍø½ûÇøia as part of this exchange.
